BASF SE

Introduction
In 2007, BASF established its Fuel Cell division as a leading supplier of fuel cell components. This was a significant milestone following a series of strategic acquisitions and developments that laid the groundwork for BASF's entry into the fuel cell industry. In 2006, BASF acquired PEMEAS, consolidating its position in the sector. The E-TEK division was integrated into PEMEAS in 2005. This integration came four years after Celanese and its investors spun off PEMEAS in 2004. Earlier, in 2003, BASF began developing its proprietary HC-membrane, which has since become a core component of its fuel cell offerings.
